Outage Engineer (Current Employee) – Malaysia Kuala Lumpur – 26 February 2018
My works involve outage or turnaround preparation and execution works for turbomachinery machine with attention more on the technical side.
I have learned lot of stuff from technical point of view but it rather lack an overview picture as this job doesnt entail operating, performance and commercial aspect while doing the project. From technical aspect, Im focusing more on the structure of the unit and not on the operating and performance of the unit.
The hardest part about the job is that you dont have full control on the job preparation and execution as everything need to be consulted with the team and this mean more time needed, in fast pace outage environment this is something that cannot be afford hence creating unnecessary pressure. Secondly there is no technical training to advance your knowledge despite your role that need to communicate with customer and your own team to reach consensus on any technical issue.
The most enjoyable part is that , you are part of the preparation things that can oversee the whole project until execution and unit handover. Completing the project is the best feeling when the unit successfully started and operated.
Flexibility to work from home
irregular hours on meeting time due to time zone difference.
